This green 1978 Peugeot is one of the coolest and most distinctive vintage mopeds currently available at Detroit Moped Works.
A former MCR bike, it has been transformed into a compact French café racer with low drop handlebars, upgraded intake and ignition components, modern tires, and contrasting gold pedal hardware.
Peugeot mopeds have a riding character all their own. Their lightweight frames and variated drivetrains create a different experience from the more common Puch and Tomos mopeds. This bike combines that classic French engineering with carefully selected modern upgrades that make it a more enjoyable and practical rider.
The finished result is a vintage moped that looks special without sacrificing usability. It is fully assembled, tested, and ready to ride.

CAFÉ-RACER STYLE
The drop handlebars give this Peugeot a lower, more aggressive riding position and completely change the visual profile of the bike.
The green frame and bodywork are contrasted by the new gold pedal arms and pedals, giving the build a distinctive appearance without covering it in unnecessary accessories.
Its compact proportions, exposed mechanical components, and stripped-down controls capture the character of a small vintage European café racer.
PERFORMANCE AND RELIABILITY UPGRADES
The original-style carburetor setup has been upgraded with a larger 15mm Dell’Orto SHA carburetor for improved airflow and throttle response.
A modern CDI replaces the older ignition arrangement, while the updated pulley keeps the Peugeot variated drivetrain functioning properly. Modern Shinko tires provide a fresh contact point between this vintage machine and the road.
These upgrades make the bike more practical to own and ride while preserving the lightweight feel and distinctive mechanical character of a vintage Peugeot.
CONDITION
This is a custom vintage moped—not an untouched original survivor or a factory-stock restoration.
It has been assembled as a usable rider with a combination of vintage components and thoughtful modern upgrades. Cosmetic evidence of age and previous use should be expected on a machine built in 1978.
The bike is complete, tested, and ready to ride. Current detailed photos will be added shortly and will provide the best representation of its paint, finishes, components, and cosmetic condition.
PICKUP, DELIVERY, AND SHIPPING
This Peugeot is available for purchase directly through our website. Once purchased, it will be held safely at Detroit Moped Works until pickup or transportation is arranged.
Local delivery is available starting at $100.
Nationwide transportation can be arranged through uShip at the buyer’s expense. We can help coordinate pickup with the selected transporter.
Michigan buyers are responsible for applicable tax, title, registration, and plate costs through the Michigan Secretary of State.
